What is adaptation?
Adaptation is the adjustment or changes that occur within an organism behaviourally, physically or structurally in order to improve its ability to survive in its environment
How do living organisms benefit from having adaptations?
Organisms that adapt behaviourally, physically or structurally have an increase chance of surviving and reproducing in that type of environment. These traits are then passed on to their offspring ultimately aiding the survival of that particular species.
An example of an adaptation that benefits the organisms survival is camouflage. Insects and animals such as the walking stick, zebra and leap frog. Camouflage enables these species to blend in with their environment which in return increases the chance of survival and protection from surrounding species.
